We started developing our first ranges of tents, sleeping bags and rucksacks back in February 2012 and we will officially be launching "Terra Peak" as a new and exciting Outdoor brand in 2014.

We are based in Porthmadog, North Wales which gives us a unique opportunity to test and develop all of our products right here in Snowdonia. We are blessed to have every kind of weather and terrain needed to really push our products to their limits and make sure they perform to the highest standard.

We are committed to keeping the Outdoor industry here in Porthmadog and hope that our expertise and dedication one day leads to Terra Peak becoming one of the most recognised outdoor brands in the UK.

How to choose a hydration backpack for Cycling/Running/Climbing?

When you prepare to go on a hike or another activity which involves physical exertion, you prepare by equipping yourself with the right gear and the appropriate attire. You might think to take your camera, first aid kit, and snacks. What you absolutely must not forget is clean drinking water.

You can take water in bottles which are awkward to carry. There is, however, another option: a backpack hydration pack. It also carries water.

The comfort of carrying water on your back is easily understood by anyone who has embarked on a long hike. Technology has come a long way from the flask or canteen we used to carry on our belts. You can now fill a high-tech backpack with water, and drink from it through a small hose, called a supply tube, without even having to take off the backpack or miss a step. The different models and sizes of these hydration packs come with many features such as:
insulated water reservoirs of different capacities, which keep the water cool; bacteria and fungus elimination technology; anti-microbial materials; water flow control; an MP3 pocket among its many pockets, reflective piping for night time safety, padded shoulders and other comfort features.
Hydration packs have become extremely popular, beginning with bicyclists and motocross riders, now all kinds of athletes use them regularly. As a consequence, most of the manufacturers have specially designed packs that are suited to particular sports.
Some hydration packs are called bladders, and serve basically only the purpose of carrying water. These, though, have the added feature that they are freezer and microwave safe. The designs of the hydration packs allow you to pour in the water efficiently. All of the hydration packs are designed to be hung upside down, to drain them and dry them when they are not in use.
A hydration system which is hands free, as these all are, is additionally useful if your hands are occupied, while for example climbing or biking. Even if you do not practice an outdoor sport, you can use a hydration pack while you're running on a treadmill, or if you're working with your hands in a position or place that makes it difficult or dangerous to interrupt what you're doing to drink some water, such as on a scaffold or while working with tools and hand held equipment.

Maintaining your body's hydration is the single most important task of your day, particularly in situations of physical exertion. The simplest way to drink cool, clean, safe water is to carry it in a backpack.
Further, since it is a competitive market, many companies offer unique features that may or may not be worth the investment for you. Everyone has their own preferences, so here are few things that a prospective hydration pack buyer should take into consideration:
(1) Capacity, or how much liquid does it hold.
(2) Additional capacity, or what else can it hold.
(3) Adjustability, or is it comfortable and can you keep it so.
(4) Maintenance, or how easy is to take care of.
(5) Comfort, or is it comfortable to wear. etc
