How to Measure Your Torso to Fit Your Explore Backpack ?

It's plainly apparent that not everyone is the same height. But what may not be so apparent it that people of the same height are not always similar. One person may have long legs while the other has a long torso. Whether you are trying find a suit the fits properly or a backpack for camping and hiking, it helps to learn how to measure your torso length.

Things You'll Need

Step 1
Stand behind the person who needs to be measured. Ask him to stand normally and look straight ahead.
Step 2
Find her C7 vertebrae. The C7 is where the slope of the shoulder meets the neck, and it typically is easy to find. If you are having difficulty, have your friend tilt her head forward slightly.
Step 3
Place the end of a tape measure on the C7 vertebrae and measure downward, flush against the back, toward the hips.

 Step 4

Have your friend place his hands on his hips with his thumbs reaching behind him. The top of the hip bone is known as the iliac crest, and it is considered the end of the torso.
Step 5
Imagine a line between her thumbs and take the measurement to where the tape measure crosses that line.

Pack your hiking life into Explore 85+20!Most functional backpack for begainner and serious hiker.

THANKS FOR BOA'S REVIEW ON NOV.8,2016

I have to admit, that I was a little leary of not knowing who or what Terra Peak brand was about. I got this pack, after an exhaustive search and research for what I want in a pack. I was looking for a large(er) capacity, but still keep the pack light. Hit the trail this last weekend...4000 ft of elevation gain with a total pack weight of 32 lbs. This pack performed beautifully. I am impressed with how everything I need sits in the pack. I really like the belt tightening mechanism...really nice and easy to adjust. The pack sat great on my back going both up and down the mountain. So far, I'd definitely recommend this pack. Looking forward to more trips in the near future with it.

Excellent bag for the price---review from S. Tanner on Oct.21,2016

Thanks for  S.Tanner's positive review for Explore 85

So let me say I looked around for a bag to fit my sleeping bag after I found that my 65 L bag would not hold my warm weather sleeping bag. My friend bought the Osprey Aether 85L which runs about $300 and a lot of my comparison will be done with that bag in mind.
Pros
Quality materials
Sturdy straps, handles and even zipper dangles
Tons of space
Adjustable to torso height
Comes with rain cover
Side pockets
Water bladder storage area and tube access
Sturdy hip belt
Light weight, (most of the pack weight comes from the hip belt and aluminum back stays)

Comes with all the normal expected parts for a bag with this purpose.
Seperate compartment with zipper separation for a sleeping bag
Mesh side pockets
Bag compression straps

Cons
No seperate pocket for rain cover (it is in top compartment) see image
Top compartment does not remove for a day pack
No hip belt pockets
Honestly can't think of any more Cons
And these are so minimal that at this price I don't mind.
Honestly pleased with the bag and my overly large military issue sleeping bag fits as I desired

It is a pack that your family could share -Terra Peak Explore 55/65/85+20-------Most functional backpack for begainner and serious hiker !

Today Luke and Susan review the Terra Peak 55:20 Explorer backpack.

thank you very much for tuning in for this backpack review now
on our backs. we have two packs from a company called Terra peak have you heard of them before in the United States? you probably haven't but in the UK you might have.

we're taking a look at the terrapeak explore 5520 pack. I have a purple one and Luke has a navy blue one .I'll show up my colors yeah definitely girly and I tell you what we've received a lot of compliments while out on the trail about this pack .and this color definitely women really are drawn to this pack of course it's purple about this pack is unisex this is not a woman's version it's just a unisex pack. all these packs are unisex in design .so if there's a lady out there who likes blue you can buy the blue one so on and so forth .yes the pack also comes in black if you like that color .

ok alright let's get down into the details now when it comes to the materials for these packs. the main fabric is a 600d Tara pro ripstop polyester.

the trim fabric is also a tough pro 600d polyester but it is not rip stop when it comes to the padding on the back that is all airmesh these zippers are not well-known branded
zippers are not SBS or YKK .
when it comes  to the weight you're looking at 4.4 pounds or 2 kilograms will start here with the blue pack at the very back you have a drag handle  going to the lid which is fully adjustable but it is connected to the back of the pack so you only have so much lift with this lid now .right here on top you have a rain cover that is included high-visibility that's a nice touch it is a nice touch yes so many packs do not include the rain covers terapeak on the inside of the lid you have an additional pocket.very good size this pack is 55 litres but right here you have additional 20 liters of storage right here under the hood .you have to draw pulls one here at the top one here at the middle going down you have an additional handle nice feature .
i do like the additional handle in the middle of the pack or even on the sides that's a thumbs-up you have a map  pocket right below that I like the coloring to this blue pack i really do
now with the girl pack or i should say the purple print as you can see there the zipper covering is purple
but anyways you have a map pocket right here very good amount of space right here you have lots of adjustable shock cord and right here would be pole keepers em or maybe for your at ice axes whatever going down to the bottom of the pack you do have a dedicated sleeping bag compartment which we will get to in just a moment you have two compression straps which go over that so you can put a sleeping pad on the outside whatever you want to do going to the side of the pack here we have two
compression straps one has a buckle here at the top this one down here does not .
here's the mesh side pocket water bottles and so on in this pocket right here will expand so you can have additional storage on the side of the pack yet .now of course depending on how full themain compartment of your pack is dependsn how much space you actually have right here because if you stuff it on the inside it pushes out and fills those up right here i'll go ahead and point out a really cool feature an important one this pack is hydration compatible right here you have your little h2l this is where the hydration to would come out of and Susan brings up a good point this is hydration compatible if you want it you don't have to use it you do have the water bottle pockets on the outside that's your thing but you have plenty of options and of course you have the same features on the other side of the pack the two compression straps one here at the top as mention as the buckle the one down here does not you have that zipper expandable side pocket .

let's move to the back of back we have some good heavy padding on these straps very breathable not mushy .

yes very thick very thick this is a substantial waist belt this pack
features all the typical adjustments that you would expect you have load lifter sternum strap everything that you would expect.yes so there's plenty of ways to pull .this pack tight anyway that you want to hear down at the waist belt you can even pull the pack towards the belt .another feature that this pack has is that it is fully adjustable so you are
able to adjust this according to your torso length .

that's right, right here you can see that .it says pro neck adjustable back system if you stick your hand down here you will find a red strap and this allows you to adjust this up-and-down you know .

there you go now you can lower it you can raise it over it raised it get it situated perfectly for you .yeah so very good feature that this pack has em this pack does feature to aluminum stays which you can see on both sides .here so let's what the pack over and let's take a look at the pockets we will start here down at the bottom with the sleeping bag compartment which offers you an ample amount of space for your summertime bag .your fall bag putting a large-sized synthetic Phil sleeping bag inside of this would be difficult but if you're using down you would be able to compress even a large sleeping bag into this pocket right here. as you can see here you have a zipper that will access the main part of this pack yet it basically a shelf which gives you access to the rest of the year .

so if you want to have just one gigantic pockets instead of having that divided now going to the main portion of the pack .i have some rope in this pack huh I wonder why that is guys I have a story to share with you . all involving a donkey that has fallen in love with lone wolf Mountain coming up soon.

inside we have one main pocket you have a sleeve for your hydration bladder and you also
have a hook to secure your hydration bladder in there now in case you're wondering the purple pack is exactly the same as the navy blue pack that we just looked at all the colors of this pack are identical .

so folks we take a look at the packs here the the pockets the features and so on let's talk about price and then get to the review so Susie how much do these packs run okay well on amazon for the u.s. they are a hundred and ten dollars 99 cents and in the UK they go for about 75 British pounds which I think that's about 93 US dollars so you know let's
just say round a hundred dollars for this pack.

okay yeah it's very budget friendly very friendly the size of this and all the features that you get let's move to the review portion Susie what do you think about these packs I've really enjoyed testing out this pack we've been using them for what would you say three months much.yep so we both had the opportunity to tke them on trips we also let our daughter take this one on a trip .she is a little bit smaller than me but the pack worked worked for her so I think that's great that in the fact that we were able to adjust that suspension system for her I didn't even think about that but yeah . that's a big plus especially if a family is just getting into backpacking .you don't do it all that often and you
want to share gear so it is really good for your budget because of the adjustability you can fit a wide range of people so a mom and daughter dad sons you guys could share this pack which I think that's a unique thing about it .

mmm very very true you know it's like

when I look at these packs i think of

like a beginner packs you know you might

be curious about the outdoors and you

don't want to go out and spend a ton of

money right out the gate you want to

tiptoe into it and see if it's something

that you want to do before investing

into lighter gear now that brings me to

my next point 4.4 pounds is not super

lightweight by any means but when you

have these on you really don't notice it

now that they are made to be comfortable

and i think the pack does a good job of

having enough padding it fits you well

you can adjust it so you shouldn't have

fatigue from carrying it even if you do

long treks which I've done that with

with these packs as well as our daughter

she did a very long trek with it and

didn't have any issues

that's right she was out for three days

with this pack our daughter we've gone

on trips for two days at a time

no issues yet no rubbing with the straps

the hip belt is very comfortable

mhm the heaviest load out that i

personally carried in this pack was

right at 32 pounds i believe
Susie you

carry right at 27 pounds right and we

both thought they were very comfortable

very comfortable easy to handle worked

out very well.
now i will say that this

claims to be water resistant because it

has a water repellent coating we did not

find that to be true so i would highly

recommend if you're using it anytime

there's rain pull out this rain cover

and uses right let me go ahead and show

you that guy's when Susan says get out

the red cover you probably should do

that because we notice that the water

will soak right into this polyester so

as you can see there is actually soaking

into the fabric nice and wet now it has

to dry so yeah if it's starting to

sprinkle make sure to get that pack

cover out pull this out and use it these

are really easy to use

yep just slide it over if you just pull

it over just like so you can see there

it's adequate it will fit all of your

content even if you have the bag

extended out to 75 leaders as mentioned

before completely adjustable I mean you

can really been a goal this thing to fit

your body type

so yeah I mean those are all really good

prose the waist belt is removable if you

do not want to use it i think that's a

nice touch it's an interesting feature

that you don't really see with many

packs so for some people who like to go

lighter they don't need the waist belt

right and with a lot of packs you cannot

remove them so that is definitely an

interesting feature right now with these

pockets on the side here they're ok

they're not great and the reason is this

and I actually touched upon this already

if the contents of your backpack the

inside is really stuffed it really

stretches out and you really don't have

that much space

inside of there some but not a lot yeah

and if you're carrying your water here

that even takes up more of this because

if you have a big liter bottle sticking

out its gonna come up to here it's not

gonna be easy to use these right so they

might not be that useful

yep yeah so yeah it's nicer there i

think they could have been larger in

size and that would make made them more

usable yeah now durability is next and

we have tested these packs out for

around three months now this pack right

here has seen a lot of abuse and I say

that in the nicest way possible because

our daughter is so rough on just about

everything

yes which I think that's typical of

teenagers they're just harder on things

in general right we did you know ask her

to take care of your stuff try to hear

try to be careful with it but yeah it's

this pack has been out a lot and I mean

essentially it looks great right now it

looks brand-new

yeah yeah so if he can take the abuse

that she is going to give out

thumbs up now this is something of

course that we will continue to test out

so if we have any issues in the future

we can say hey we'll do an update like

we have this issue whatever you will be

happy to know that the company has a

two-year warranty so you can contact

terapeak and they will take care of you

right if anything happens to it and I'd

noticed when im using it sometimes the

zippers can feel a little bit sticky

I personally have not noticed that

myself

nothing concerning about it really just

something i noticed

yeah but they are not like name-brand

zippers they're not SPS they're not YKK

or anything along those lines but you

are looking at a budget-friendly back so

don't expect like arc'teryx quality art

Eric's packs cost for five hundred

dollars for a reason right

so there you go another great Pro to

this pack is that it's hydration

compatible that's an important feature

too many people and I mean it makes it a

lot easier to have that so this pack

includes it right

I'm a big fan of hydration bladders in

the summertime not so much in the

wintertime so it's nice to be able to

have not only the expandability of these

packs but that those options there to

carry water

models or to carry a hydration bladder

very good when it comes to looks and

then we'll in here i have to say that i

really like the looks of these packs

I like the blue I like the red nice

touches

yes I think it looks sharp idea i think

the black one has green number for the

detail i really like this pack pink and

purple right up my alley

so I love the look of this i think it's

a great beginner budget-friendly pack

right

our daughter when she went out

backpacking I guess every girl in her

hiking club they all love this pack

yeah lots of compliments lots of you

know right i love it

some reading and I noticed some people

it does matter what your gear looks like

so for the ladies out there who like

this color combo it's not a bad option

no it's not so once again terapeak is a

company in the UK they do have a website

and all these packs are available only

in the UK we were contacted by a US

distributor you can find them on amazon

we will post all the information below

so that you can get your hands on one of

these packs if you think it's a good fit

and if you like it guys and gals if you

have any questions
